A 100% Syrah from the Rhone. On the nose, you get abundant layers of blackberry and black cherry fruit. On the palate, you get juicy black fruit with a little black pepper on the finish. The wine is smooth with well-integrated tannins.
The name ‘Petit Ours’ translates as little bear, hence the label. The wine is made from organically grown grapes that are grown using biodynamic methods. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed before fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats for around 15 days. The wine is then lightly pressed and aged for approximately eight months in concrete vats to preserve freshness and fruit purity.
Overall, this is a very good Côtes-du-Rhône.
