We couldn’t consider ourselves to have a good selection without having an Australian Chardonnay, and we believe this one from the Yarra Valley to be a cracker. This Innocent Bystander Chardonnay has intense aromas of lime-tree blossom and gooseberry with hints of ripe lemon and peach. While in the glass, you get a full bodied wine with flavours of peach, lychee and lemon, with a hint of star anise. Overall, this is a delightful crisp, complex Chardonnay with a long finish.
90 / 100 Christelle Guibert, Decanter.com (2014 vintage):
Phil Sexton has a reputation for producing classy and elegant Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. The welcoming subtle tropical fruit with floral edges opens up to juicy, fresh lemon peel on a creamy, textured palate. Has the finesse of Burgundy but at a fraction of the price.
