Lunatico is a biodynamic wine made from old Grenache vines and fermented with natural yeasts. A lunatic in French means someone who is affected by the moon and its phases, hence the name!
On the nose, you get red fruits, chocolate and a little vanilla to lure you in. On the palate, the red fruits are still present, with more chocolate and spice notes. This is a full-bodied wine with firm tannins, which makes it capable for aging up to 15 years. Overall, we think this is a fine example of an old vine Grenache.
93/100, Gilbert & Gaillard on Lunatico (2009 vintage):
Garnet in colour, the nose opens with red fruits, cocoa and sweet spices. Seduces the palate with its size, measured power and fine texture, then follows through with the sharpness of aromatic chocolate and it’s length. Magnificent Grenache.
