Château Macquin produces some excellent Saint Emilion style wines. Because they are located in the Saint George satellite appellation, they are able to do this without such a hefty price tag. This wine is no exception. It’s a merlot led blend (80% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 10% cabernet franc) that showcases merlot at its best. This wine has enticing aromas of ripe red cherry, cassis, coconut and a hint of liquorice. It has plenty of ripe red fruit flavours with a little tobacco spice and good acidity levels to balance it. Overall, the wine is full-bodied with silky smooth tannins and a long finish.
