Welcome to our selection of Argentinian vegan wines. Argentinian wine is often (but not always!) a vegan’s friend. Traditionally, Argentina uses bentonite clay for fining instead of the less savoury fining agents. See our page on vegan wine for more details on finings.

The combination of high altitude and low humidity means there are a lot less pests, bugs and diseases in Argentina. Consequently Argentinian wine is often produced with little or no pesticides.

Argentina has two main wine areas:

  • Mendoza: this region produces nearly two-thirds of all Argentinian wine. In the lower lying areas in the East, you will often find the more mass produced wines. Whereas the higher land in the Andes foothills often produces much higher quality wines. These wines will often have more complicated / interesting flavours and longer finishes.
  • Patagonia: this region produces very different wines to Mendoza as it’s lower lying and has a more typical desert climate (warm days and cool nights).

The main grapes of Argentina are Malbec and the lesser known white grape, Torrontés. Malbec grows all over Argentina, whereas Torrontés grows in the regions to the North of Mendoza. The most famous of these regions is Salta, which encompasses Cafayate.
